agingHave you ever wondered if Time Gets Better With Age?

Read it through to the end, it gets better as you go!

I’ve learned that I like my teacher because she cries when we sings “Silent Night”.
Age 5

I’ve learned that our dog doesn’t want to eat my broccoli either.
Age 7

I’ve learned that when I wave to people in the country, they stop what they are doing and wave back.
Age 9

I’ve learned that just when I get my room the way I like it, Mom makes me clean it up again.
Age 12

I’ve learned that if you want to cheer yourself up, you should try cheering someone else up.
Age 14

I’ve learned that although it’s hard to admit it, I’m secretly glad my parents are strict with me.
Age 15

I’ve learned that silent company is often more healing than words of advice.
Age 24

Age 29

I’ve learned that if someone says something unkind about me, I must live so that no one will believe it.
Age 30

Age 42

I’ve learned that you can make some one’s day by simply sending them a little note.

Age 49

I’ve learned that motel mattresses are better on the side away from the phone.
Age 50

I’ve learned that you can tell a lot about a man by the way he handles these three things: a rainy day, lost luggage, and
tangled Christmas tree lights.
Age 51

I’ve learned that keeping a vegetable garden is worth a medicine cabinet full of pills.
Age 52

I’ve learned that regardless of your relationship with your parents, you miss them terribly after they die.

I’ve learned that making a living is not the same thing as making a life.
Age 58

I’ve learned that if you want to do something positive for your children, work to improve your marriage.
Age 61

I’ve learned that life sometimes gives you a second chance.
Age 62

I’ve learned that you shouldn’t go through life with a catchers mitt on both hands. You need to be able to throw something back.

Age 64
I’ve learned that if you pursue happiness, it will elude you. But if you focus on your family, the needs of others, your
work, meeting new people, and doing the very best you can, happiness will find you.
Age 65

I’ve learned that whenever I decide something with kindness, I usually make the right decision.
Age 66

I’ve learned that everyone can use a prayer.
Age 72

I’ve learned that even when I have pains, I don’t have to be one.
Age 82

I’ve learned that every day you should reach out and touch someone. People love that human touch-holding hands, a warm
hug, or just a friendly pat on the back.
Age 90

I’ve learned that I still have a lot to learn.
Age 92
Time Gets Better With Age

I’ve learned that you should pass this one on to someone you care about. Sometimes they just need a little something to
make them smile.

Wisdom For Our Time

October 24, 2009 · Posted in Funny Stories, Stupid Funny Things, True Stories · 4 Comments

Great bits of wisdom for our time:

“Instead of getting married again, I’m going to find a woman I don’t like and just give her a house,”
Lewis Grizzard

“The problem with the designated driver program, it’s not a desirable job.
But if you ever get sucked into doing it, have fun with it. At the end of the night, drop them off at the wrong house.”
Jeff Foxworthy

“See, the problem is that God gives men a brain and a penis, and only enough blood to run one at a time.”
Robin Williams

“Relationships are hard. It’s like a full time job, and we should treat it like one. If your boyfriend or girlfriend wants to leave you, they should give you two weeks’ notice. There should be severance pay, and before they leave you, they should have to find you a temp.”
Bob Ettinger

“I think that’s how Chicago got started. A bunch of people in New York said, ‘Gee, I’m enjoying the crime and the poverty, but it just isn’t cold enough. Let’s go west.’”
Richard Jeni

“In elementary school, in case of fire you have to line up quietly in a single file line from smallest to tallest. What is the logic? Do tall people burn slower?”
Warren Hutcherson

“Bigamy is having one wife/husband too many. Monogamy is the same.”
Oscar Wilde

“Suppose you were an idiot… And suppose you were a member of Congress…But I repeat myself.”
Mark Twain

“Ah, yes, divorce……., from the Latin word meaning to rip out a man’s genitals through his wallet,”
Robin Williams

“Women need a reason to have sex. Men just need a place.”
Billy Crystal

“When I die, I want to die like my grandfather who died peacefully in his sleep. Not screaming like all the passengers in his car.”
Author Unknown

“Oh, you hate your job? Why didn’t you say so? There’s a support group for that. It’s called EVERYBODY, and they meet at the bar.”
Drew Carey

Just Curious

You know, I was wondering and just curious….

Why is it that if you cross the North Korean border illegally you get thrown into prison and get 12 years of hard labor;

and if you cross the Iranian border while out supposedly leisurely hiking in the hills, you get arrested and imprisoned;

but if you cross the U.S. border illegally, you get a drivers’ license, a Social Security card, free health care and a free education!

Just curious.

The Law Is The Law

October 21, 2009 · Posted in Not Funny, True Stories · Comment

God and The Law Is The Law

So ‘if’ the US government determines that it is against the law for the words ‘under God’ to be on our money, I am suppose to say, so be it.under god-blog

And ‘if’ that same government decides that the ‘Ten Commandments’ are not to be used in or on a government installation, then I am suppose to say, so be it.

I say, ‘so be it,’ because I would like to be a law abiding US citizen.

I say, ‘so be it,’ because I am suppose to think that smarter people than I are in positions to make good decisions.

I am suppose to think that those people have the American public’s best interests at heart.

BUT, YOU KNOW WHAT ELSE I’D LIKE?

Since we can’t pray to God, can’t Trust in God and cannot post His Commandments in Government buildings, I don’t believe the Government and its employees should participate in the Easter and Christmas celebrations which honor the God that our government is eliminating from many facets of American life.

I’d like my mail delivered on Christmas, Good Friday, Thanksgiving & Easter. After all, it’s just another day.

I’d like the ‘US Supreme Court to be in session on Christmas, Good Friday, Thanksgiving & Easter as well as Sundays.’ After all, it’s just another day.

I’d like the Senate and the House of Representatives to not have to worry about getting home for the ‘Christmas Break.’ After all it’s just another day.

I’m thinking that a lot of my taxpayer dollars could be saved, if all government offices & services would work on Christmas, Good Friday & Easter. It shouldn’t cost any overtime since those would be just like any other day of the week to a government that is trying to be ‘politically correct.’
In fact….

I think that our government should work on Sundays (initially set aside for worshiping God…) because, after all, our government says that it should be just another day….

What do you all think????

If this idea gets to enough people, maybe our elected officials will stop giving in to the ‘minority opinions’ and begin, once again, to represent the ‘majority’ of ALL of the American people.

SO BE IT………..

Please Dear Lord,
Give us the help needed to keep you in our country!
‘Amen’ and ‘Amen’

These are definitely things I never thought about but from now on, I will be sure to question those in government who support these changes.

Invisible Mother

October 19, 2009 · Posted in Not Funny, True Stories · Comment

This is one of the nicest stories I’ve taken the time to read.  It’s about the Invisible Mother.

It all began to make sense, the blank stares, the lack of response, the way one of the kids will walk into the room while I’m on the phone and ask to be taken to the store. Inside I’m thinking, ‘Can’t you see I’m on the phone?’

Obviously not; no one can see if I’m on the phone, or cooking, or sweeping the floor, or even standing on my head in the corner, because no one can see me at all. I’m invisible. The invisible Mom. Some days I am only a pair of hands, nothing more! Can you fix this? Can you tie this? Can you open this??

Some days I’m not a pair of hands; I’m not even a human being. I’m a clock to ask, ‘What time is it?’ I’m a satellite guide to answer, ‘What number is the Disney Channel?’ I’m a car to order, ‘Right around 5:30, please.’

I was certain that these were the hands that once held books and the eyes that studied history and the mind that graduated summa cum laude -but now, they had disappeared into the peanut butter, never to be seen again. She’s going, she’s going, she’s gone!?

One night, a group of us were having dinner, celebrating the return of a friend from England. Janice had just gotten back from a fabulous trip, and she was going on and on about the hotel she stayed in. I was sitting there, looking around at the others all put together so well. It was hard not to compare and feel sorry for myself. I was feeling pretty pathetic, when Janice turned to me with a beautifully wrapped package, and said, ‘I brought you this.’ It was a book on the great cathedrals of Europe . I wasn’t exactly sure why she’d given it to me until I read her inscription: ‘To Charlotte, with admiration for the greatness of what you are building when no one sees.’

In the days ahead I would read – no, devour – the book. And I would discover what would become for me, four life-changing truths, after which I could pattern my work: No one can say who built the great cathedrals – we have no record of their names. These builders gave their whole lives for a work they would never see finished. They made great sacrifices and expected no credit. The passion of their building was fueled by their faith that the eyes of God saw everything.

A legendary story in the book told of a rich man who came to visit the cathedral while it was being built, and he saw a workman carving a tiny bird on the inside of a beam. He was puzzled and asked the man, ‘Why are you spending so much time carving that bird into a beam that will be covered by the roof, No one will ever see it. And the workman replied, ‘Because God sees.’

I closed the book, feeling the missing piece fall into place. It was almost as if I heard God whispering to me, ‘I see you, Charlotte. I see the sacrifices you make every day, even when no one around you does.

No act of kindness you’ve done, no sequin you’ve sewn on, no cupcake you’ve baked, is too small for me to notice and smile over. You are building a great cathedral, but you can’t see right now what it will become. At times, my invisibility feels like an affliction. But it is not a disease that is erasing my life. It is the cure for the disease of my own self-centeredness. It is the antidote to my strong, stubborn pride.

I keep the right perspective when I see myself as a great builder. As one of the people who show up at a job that they will never see finished, to work on something that their name will never be on. The writer of the book went so far as to say that no cathedrals could ever be built in our lifetime because there are so few people willing to sacrifice to that degree.

When I really think about it, I don’t want my son to tell the friend he’s bringing home from college for Thanksgiving, ‘My Mom gets up at 4 in the morning and bakes homemade pies, and then she hand bastes a turkey for 3 hours and presses all the linens for the table.’ That would mean I’d built a shrine or a monument to myself. I just want him to want to come home. And then, if there is anything more to say to his friend, to add, ‘You’re gonna love it there.’

As mothers, we are building great cathedrals. We cannot be seen if we’re doing it right. And one day, it is very possible that the world will marvel, not only at what we have built, but at the beauty that has been added to the world by the sacrifices of invisible women.

Great Job, MOM and DAD!

Share this with all the Invisible Moms and Dads you know… I just did. The Will of God will never take you where the Grace of God will not protect you. This is beautiful and makes a ton of sense. To all the wonderful mothers and fathers out there.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I am in much debt to my invisible Mother and Father.
